Target precision: λ/20 or less High-precision lapping on large-diameter flat surfaces (about 500 mm in diameter) can be accomplished reliably, reducing the need for skilled operators. Pitch surface cutting mechanics enable precision polishing of large diameters. The granite based conditioning machine (conditioner) precisely maintains the pitch surface. Using the NC-controlled cutter, it is possible to make arbitrarily-shaped grooves in the pitch surface. Due to the high-rigidity design, which uses a granite table, and due to the use of a polishing-fluid temperature control system, overnight operations and repeated stability are possible.
